This edition of the Minesing Moments is being written while I look through the window at the snow blowing sideways.  What a terrible day it is.  Though the students are happy it’s a snow day.  For the students who are writing exams, it means an extra day to cram in some studying, which I am absolutely sure they will take advantage of.  Winter doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere soon.

Mini-Fest is back for its 42nd year.  The organizers are working tirelessly to ensure that the winter celebration continues on in.    If you are a computer literate person you can find out the details of the events planned at www.minesing.ca.  Should you prefer to read it in the newspaper, continue reading.

Friday night events are as follows: Progressive Euchre beginning at 7pm.  Cost is $2 plus a Mini-fest button.  Family skating party at 8:30 p.m. admission is a Mini-fest button.  There will also be Adult Mixed Bowling beginning at 7:00 p.m.  Enter a team for $60 and a Mini-Fest button! The Grade 8 class at Minesing will be hosting another “Movie Night” at the school on Friday February 21st and will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. This movie will be opened to children in Junior Kindergarten up to and including Grade 4.  The cost will be $5 per child at the door and will include a drink and popcorn. Parents can drop children off and have a few hours to themselves.  Children are encouraged to wear their comfy jammies, bring a blanket, pillow and/or stuffed animals.  The movie has not been decided yet but will be age appropriate.  Should you have any questions, please email lorachalli@sympatico.ca.

Until next time, bundle up and keep warm!

Though it’s a couple of week late, I would like to wish all of Minesing Moments faithful readers a very Happy New Year.  I wish you all good health and happiness throughout 2014.

I’m sure those who have set new goals and resolutions are still muscling through to achieve them.  It’s a tough journey but keep your mind on the goal and you can do it.

During the holidays I was happy to see that all of the local skating rinks were being well utilized.  The volunteers who keep the rinks going have been doing a great job and should be thanked for their time and efforts.  With the plummeting temperatures over the last few days, it has been perfect for the ice making.  Keep up the good work!

Minesing will be hosting its 42nd Annual Minifest on February 7th & 8th. This year activities will include bowling, euchre and a family skate on Friday evening.  On Saturday there will be a pancake breakfast, parade, family activities, a chili cook-off and much more.  In the evening there will be an adult dance.

For more details on where to get buttons, advance tickets for the dance or information on the parade, cook off, how to get involved or more, visit the Minesing facebook page www.facebook.com/groups/minesing for general questions or to submit nominations for the Citizen and Youth of the year please email us at Minifest@minesing.ca.  We look forward to seeing everyone!

Until next time, have a great day!
