Spring has apparently arrived but the remaining snowbanks and lawns of white sure make you wonder what Mother Nature has been doing to us this year. In my job, I speak to people all over the province and I always ask what the weather is like where they are. Late last week Thunder Bay woke up to 9 more inches of snow, Parry Sound had about six inches to greet them Saturday morning. Well I guess we can say that we are a little luckier than that in our area as long we don’t get any more snow falling. I do have to say I have seen a few trees with buds on them which surprised me because I would have thought the weather would need to be warmer for that.
As spring is here, people will be cleaning out their yards, and garages. The Grade 8’s at Minesing Central School want to help make it easier for you and will be holding another scrap metal and electronics drop off at the school beginning on Thursday April 24th, and will run through until Sunday the 27th. They arecollecting metal and anything with an electrical cord (excluding refrigerators and propane tanks) from: 4:00 – 8:00 pm on Thursday April 24th, 4:00 – 8:00 pm on Friday April 25th, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th.
It’s a great way to help out the fundraiser and to clear out your sheds and yards of unwanted items.
Just a quick note to make sure you keep a watchful on your children as the water level in the ditches and creeks are rising. It only takes a second for something horrible to happen.
Until next time, keep your fingers crossed that the snow melts at a slow steady pace.
