Minesing United Church Spring Tea will be held on May 3, 2014. 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  The cost is $6 and tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance by contacting June Haley.

The college and university students will be home to many families now.  Their exams are done and now the job hunt for summer employment begins.  Finding a job is a tough go out there these days so good luck to all of them.

A reminder that the Grade 8 Students at Minesing are holding a scrap metal and electronics drop off at the school beginning Thursday April 24th at 4:30, Friday April 25th, Saturday the 26th and Sunday the 27th.  Please, no refrigerators or propane tanks.  Anything with a cord will be accepted.  Your support is appreciated.

I’m sure you will read all about the Elmvale Maple Syrup Festival in this edition but I would like to add that it’s a good day out for the family to see the vendors and events going on throughout Elmvale.  The thing that sticks out in my mind that it was always rotten weather and cold but it never stopped the locals to go out support the town.  Let’s hope that Mother Nature will be kind this year after her extended winter season.

I like the welcome sound of the birds waking up early in the morning but the last few days I have noticed that there is a woodpecker in town.  He’s up as bright and early as the other feathered friends doing his thing.  He must have found what he was looking for because he was only around for a short time.  We’ll have to wait and see if he has set up a nest nearby.

This past weekend it was great to see so many people out and about going for walks and doing yard work.  I also noticed that many families had gatherings for Easter; I hope you all enjoyed time together.  I have discussed with friends recently about Easter egg hunts.  Is there an age that kids stop wanting the Easter Bunny to come?  I believe that it’s a hard tradition for kids to give up.  Actually I’m not sure if it’s we the parents who don’t want the kids to grow up.  It’s probably a combination of both.  It’s always fun to watch them do their searching no matter what their age is.  I know the cleaning lady (me) enjoys the unfound eggs when she comes across a few eggs left behind.

Until next time, enjoy the beautiful weather.
