Can you believe August is already here? Only a few more weeks and the kids are back to school. I see that the stores are ready for it with all of their newspaper ads and school supply displays in their stores. I think the displays either excite the kids or completely scare them, either way it happens and they all seem to survive.
I have recently seen some ads on tv that show a young boy who is bullied at school and it just breaks my heart to think that this behaviour continues to takes place in the schools. It may be a good time to go over this type of thing with your children and ensure that they know that it’s not acceptable and should they be a victim or witness of bullying, to be sure to report any of this behaviour to a parent, teacher or adult.
As Labour Day weekend approaches, this is a reminder that Minesing is again hosting the annual Slo-Pitch Tournament. The games begin Friday night followed by music and dancing at the pavilion for those 19 years of age and older. The games continue on Saturday with the finals on Sunday. Come out and support our community and your neighbours who are playing. If there are still teams wanting to sign up, look on the www.minesing.ca website for more information.
We have recently heard of many unfortunate accidents that involve motorcycles and ATV’s in our news. As we live in an area where ATV’s and motorcycles are used all the time, I think it’s a good time for our readers to make sure that they are keeping themselves safe when they use their bikes. The rules are simple, wear a helmet, watch for other vehicles, and don’t speed excessively. By following these rules, hopefully there are no more unnecessary accidents.
Until next time, keep smiling!
